Orchard House is a private, non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to keeping older adults living independently within their respective communities.
Our Story:
In 1981, Orchard House was established to provide programs for older adults along the shoreline to gather and socialize, share meals, and engage in individual or group activities. The program was originally located at the First Baptist Church of Branford. Orchard House was the sole day program between New Haven and New London at the time.
By 1985, due to a growing demand for services, we relocated to the old Short Beach School, where it continues to operate today. We continue to see an increased need for older adults requiring medical oversight in a supportive environment that fosters independence and social-emotional enrichment, thereby decreasing loneliness and isolation. They are afforded the opportunity to age in place. Recognizing the impact of caregiving on families, we have committed to supporting them through support groups, respite care, and educational programs.
Today, Orchard House continues to be a medical model adult day center located in Branford. We serve communities along the shoreline from New Haven to East Lyme.
It has been our pleasure to serve the shoreline older adults over the last 40 years and will continue to enhance their quality of life in the future!
