Orchard House is a private, non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to keeping older adults living independently within their respective communities.

Our Story:
In 1981, Orchard House was established to provide programs for older adults along the shoreline to gather and socialize, share meals, and engage in individual or group activities. The program was originally located at the First Baptist Church of Branford. Orchard House was the sole day program between New Haven and New London at the time.

By 1985, due to a growing demand for services, we relocated to the old Short Beach School, where it continues to operate today. We continue to see an increased need for older adults requiring medical oversight in a supportive environment that fosters independence and social-emotional enrichment, thereby decreasing loneliness and isolation. They are afforded the opportunity to age in place. Recognizing the impact of caregiving on families, we have committed to supporting them through support groups, respite care, and educational programs.

Today, Orchard House continues to be a medical model adult day center located in Branford. We serve communities along the shoreline from New Haven to East Lyme.

It has been our pleasure to serve the shoreline older adults over the last 40 years and will continue to enhance their quality of life in the future!

The Reed Wilson Case Foundation, Inc. is BACK!

This is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that we founded in 2020. We felt very fortunate, especially during a year in which so many businesses struggled, to have been able to survive and thrive. The mission of the RWC Foundation is to give back in ways that are meaningful to the people in our community. This is where we need your help!

Once again we have chosen 12 charities to support, some of which are based in and around our home in Middletown. Each week from now until Thanksgiving, we will be highlighting each organization and asking you to vote for the one (or ones) that are most meaningful to you.

Vote for one or vote for all 12! We will tally up the votes at the end of each week and divide the donation proportionately based on the votes. The donations will be announced on Giving Tuesday, December 3rd.

If there is an organization on our list that is particularly important and meaningful to you, please share it with your friends so they can vote too. To be fair to every organization, we will only count the votes for the week on the individual posts about each charity.

To give you a little preview of how things worked out last year – please take a look at the final donation distributions from past years.
