RELEASE: Connecticut’s elder law attorneys group elects new leadership
The Connecticut chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (CT-NAELA) announced that new members have been elected to key leadership posts.
Attorney Joan Reed Wilson, the managing partner of RWC, LLC Attorneys and Counselors at Law, has been selected as president-elect.
Who Is Attorney Joan Reed Wilson?
Joan Reed Wilson received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Lehigh University in 1992 and her law degree from Boston University School of Law, cum laude, in 1997, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Law & Medicine.
Attorney Wilson practices in the areas of estate planning, elder law, Medicaid planning, conservatorships, probate and trust administration, and real estate.
Admitted to practice in the States of Connecticut and California, she is the Vice President of the CT Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), an active member of the Elder Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.
Attorney Wilson is also accredited with the PLAN of CT for Pooled Trusts, with the Veteran’s Administration to assist clients with obtaining Aid & Attendance benefits for long-term care needs and with the Agency on Aging’s CareLink Network.
Joan Reed Wilson was one of 15 attorneys chosen by the Connecticut Attorneys Title Insurance Company (CATIC) to serve on its advisory committee.
She is trained in elder law mediation and serves on the Board of the Shoreline Eldercare Alliance. Raised in Guilford, Attorney Wilson lives in Wethersfield with her husband, two daughters, and two step-children. She is a member of the Middlesex County and Clinton Chambers of Commerce.

“Now more than ever, we need to protect seniors, and elder lawyers are well positioned to do just that. Practicing elder law attorneys understand and have experience with the legal complexities surrounding Medicaid applications and strategies of long-term care planning.
Attorneys are obligated to take continuing education which ensures we are keeping up with the latest cases and laws and at the same time are bound by professional conduct rules that ensure we act in the client’s best interest.”
